Electing benefits is an anxiety-inducing process that employees go through on an annual basis.
When employees miss the enrollment deadline, it causes a headache for the HR Admin of the company, the insurance company, the employee, and potentially hospitals or doctors offices. Our goal was to improve the election process before the upcoming enrollment period.

Removing irrelevant information
I found that the best way to guide users to fill out their information without feeling overwhelmed was to go section-by-section. I divided the steps into smaller, clearer, more concise sections. Spreading them out helped employees understand each section better, which helped to reassure them throughout the enrollment process.

Simplifying the most complex step: Electing benefits
Benefits are complicated. Each plan costs a different amount to the employee. This monthly cost was the most important thing to include on the card. Comparing plans was the second most important thing.
Plans include lots of information to accommodate special conditions. I narrowed down the details to show the most valuable items: Office visits, deductibles, specialist visits, and out-of-pocket-max. Users would be able to dive deeper into plans if they needed to.
I always dreaded open enrollment, it's complicated for everyone involved. It's one of the most stressful aspects of my job. Decisely really has made it a more bearable experience, employees have been able to get through it easier, and there are a lot less mistakes.

Updating wording to improve conversions
The most surprising thing I found out in my research was that users didn't know they were supposed to sign off on their elections. I changed the title of the page to Review and Sign, which carried the most weight for conversions.
