Responsive WebApp
Open positions typically get between 50 - 200 applications per week. Sorting and organizing candidates ends up taking a lot of time. I lead a project that saved Hiring Managers 5 hours each week.
Hiring Managers are responsible for going through all the applications for every posted job. Job openings average between 50 - 200 applications per week, depending on the company or position.
With so many applications, we noticed that there were communication gaps between companies and candidates. I interviewed Hiring Managers to understand ways we could improve this area for them.

Understanding the shortcomings
By conducting interviews with customers, I found that Hiring managers have been struggling to keep the pipelines organized for each job. I observed that the process is very tedious and manual. They have to handle each candidate case by case.
Many of the candidates don't qualify for the position by various factors (location, experience, etc.) and they still have to be moved in the pipeline or rejected candidate by candidate. Seeing this during usability testing made me question if there were alternative ways to handle candidates in the pipeline.
Problem solving with pen and paper
Option 1: Filtering stage by stage
Using the rating features, Hiring Managers typically go through all the applications separating qualified candidates from unqualified candidates. After sorting through all the candidates, we heard a lot of feedback around being able to multi-select candidates to move them all at once into their respective Stages. I explored how filtering the Stages could solve this problem.
Using a prototype, I lead usability sessions and found some problems with this method. Having Stages filtered differently created a lot of confusion because candidates could disappear when they get moved around. Hiring Managers would also sort each Stage in the pipeline to view similar candidates.

Option 2: Filtering the entire pipeline
Since comparison across the stages was a higher priority, I tried other ways that we could filter the Stages. It made a lot of sense to do it at a page level and have everything be in the same state. Usability tests showed us that filtering this way was a much better solution.
